Ale House at Amato's in the Press
Editor's Choice 2011 Ale House at Amato’s Of Breckenridge Brewery’s three neighborhood brewpubs in Denver, the brand-new Ale House is easily our favorite. It’s not just because of its hot digs in Lower Highland, amazing views of downtown (see page 23), or sparkling modern decor; it’s more the sheer breadth of beers on tap. Sure, you’ll find lots of brews from Breckenridge and partner Wynkoop Brewing Company, but the Colorado-heavy list also features craft beers from nominal competitors, including Boulder Beer, Bristol Brewing, Odell, Oskar Blues, and Ska. We’ll drink to that. 2501 16th St., 303-433-9734, www.alehousedenver.com

Needing to satisfy the craving a little early, I headed for a new addition to the burgeoning Lower Highland neighborhood, Ale House at Amato’s, which features creative burgers and 40 beers on tap (plus another dozen in bottles and cans). Breckenridge Brewery and Wynkoop Brewing Company own the spot, but the suds are sourced from various breweries and include local favorites—like Avery Brewing and Great Divide Brewing Co.—as well as craft options from across the country (try something from Missouri’s Boulevard Brewing Company). The…

By Jonathan Shikes Ale House at Amato's, the latest venture from the Breckenridge Brewing Company, opened at 11 a.m. today with a gorgeous view of the Platte Valley, the Denver skyline and the Rocky Mountains. The highly anticipated LoHi-area beer bar and restaurant is located in the former Amato's statuary store, at the corner of Central and 16th streets, where it's serving a menu of upscale comfort foods and forty craft beers, including 35 from Colorado. Breckenridge, which owns two other restaurant/bars in Denver, will spend the next few weeks working out the…
