LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, START YOUR BEER CANSSEPTEMBER 14 2016
Ben Jaeger is the Bar Manager at Ale House at Amato’s. A self-proclaimed hop head and home brewer, he has an extensive background in not only beer but wine. With a love for all things Colorado, Ben makes sure to stock the bar with lots of local favorites and a few beers you may have never heard of.
Ale House at Amato’s is happy to announce our inaugural Canwood Derby, taking place on Thursday, October 6th – just in time to kick off this year’s Great American Beer Fest!
What’s a Canwood Derby? It’s our version of a Pinewood Derby, minus the pinewood. Instead, participants build race cars out of beer cans and race them down a 60-foot track. It’s kinda like Matchbox racing, but for adults.
Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third fastest cars. We’ll also have prizes for “Best Designed Car”, “Most Unfortunate Loss” and “Chumpionship Bracket Winner”. And every participant gets at least one high-five for being awesome.
Right now we have four confirmed breweries sponsoring the race – Oskar Blues, Perrin Brewing, Wasatch Brewing and Squatters Brewing – and we hope to have more soon. Stay tuned.
If you’re interested in racing, swing by Ale House at Amato’s and pick up one of our race kits for only $5. Or, if you order a beer from any of the participating breweries, you’ll get the kit at no charge. Each kit provides rules, registration information and the parts you’ll need to turn your beer can into a lean, mean racing machine.
